TV Works
Don't tell me that advertisements don't work. The other day I was watching a pre-view to the upcoming commercials during the 2008 super-bowl (admit it...this is the only reason you're watching the game too!) when along came the Anheuser-Busch clip where poor Hank chases his life-long dream of making the Budweiser Clydesdale team. The music mellows as he is passed over, with the coach saying "better luck next year". Hank is depressed, the music is depressing, and now...I am depressed...desperate to see what happens to Hank. I know there will be a happy ending...with the Bud commercials there always is...but this has gone on long enough...bring on the game! (and the chicken wings!)

It reminds me of a few years back...when BJ and I were watching TV at his place, I had my scrapbooking stuff skewed all about his living room floor (he was so patient with me!) just then...a commercial came on the screen, where an old desk lamp was being replaced with a new and improved, bright and shiny one. Day turns to night, the rain starts to fall, the music saddened, and the old lamp was left on the curb, atop a pile of garbage, looking up...so forlorn at the apartment window where the new lamp is now in it's place.

Just then...I said to BJ "I feel sorry for the lamp" and almost could have cried...at the same moment I finished my sentence and wiped a tear away, the Swedish voice asked us all "Do you feel sorry for the lamp?"
TV...are you talking to me?
"I do feel sorry for the lamp!" I exclaimed!
"That is because you are crazy" announced my Swedish friend from IKEA..."the new lamp is much better".

I couldn't shop at IKEA for a year.
