Sleep is NOT OverratedWe've hit a milestone...Gabrielle is one month old (last Tuesday - the 20th for those keeping score) and has decided that she wants to sleep less these days. Sleeping less during the day, and sleeping less at night. I'm beat.
The day time wake time is awesome - I love playing with her, making faces, talking back to her and just watching things...like the wall. But the nights are starting to get a little short and not so sweet. It seems that she is up every 2 or 3 hours now...so long to the 4 hours bouts! Maybe its a growth spurt, or maybe she's always hungry and I'm not giving her enough. Anyhow, we do have a Dr's appointment in a week (regular 6 week check-up) and we'll talk about what to do...if anything...about this stage.
We read in a few books that there is a 6 week wonder-period where she mght actually start to sleep more. We are hoping and praying that this happens. I can't wait for a 5 hour night!
Last week Daryl had to travel to Endako - 2 hours west of Prince George for an inspection of one of the mine sites, and rather than stay home, Gabrielle and I decided to join him. Daryl and I were both very pleased with how well she travelled - sleeping lots and only waking when hungry or in need of a change. She was such a little trooper! We spent one night in Fraser Lake, and one night in Prince George and then had a nice long weekend at home.
Saturday we did a whirl-wind trip to Kelowna as Gabrielle's cousin, Alicia, was in the hospital with an infection on her foot from a spider bite (possibly - still undertermined) and we needed to see how she was doing. We also saw our good friends the Schuelers, had a quick visit with Patrice & Gord, and had some quality time with grand-ma too!
Now that we know how well she travels, we can plan more trips!
