Do you think this duck was trained? Cute chicks!
Two friends, a blonde and a redhead, are walking down the street and pass a flower shop where the redhead sees her boyfriend buying her flowers.
The Redhead sighs and says: "Oh crap, my boyfriendis buying me flowers again."The blonde looks quizzically at her and says: "Youdon't like getting flowers from your boyfriend?"The redhead replies: "I love getting flowers, but he always has expectations after giving me flowers, and I just don't feel like spending the next three days on my back with my legs in the air."The blonde says: ........"Don't you have a vase?"
Possibly the best chicken joke ever

A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smile on its face. The egg, looking a bit pissed off, grabs the sheet, rolls over, and says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question."

What a Wild & Wet Weekend!
It got hot again in the Loops this weekend! Daryl had to work on Saturday, but Sunday was a day of eating, socializing & playing. Our neighbours are building a play-house for their kids, so we snooped at their progress and we invited for lunch...which lead to the boys planning a day on the boat with BBQ supper on one of the local beaches. What a wonderful way to end a glorious weekend.

Does this look like a happy boy?

Watch out Chow!!!

With one last long weekend left this summer season, I'm sure Daryl will land a flip...or break his neck trying!

HAHAHA!!!

No Danielle she was asking about the tomatoes! I know you have to share an office and all.
A huge THANK YOU to Danielle for telling me that my tomatoes have, basically, butt rot! Now I know, and am a better person for it!

Stupid butt rot! At least we can eat the top half of the harvest! They still taste DELICIOUS!

I found this bunny in a cats mouth...I rescued it from certain death. Daryl wouldn't let me keep it. I'm sad.
Till the Sun Goes Down

The other night, I was reading in bed recovering from our weekend adventure that left muscles aching, and happened to look out our windows that overlook the valley, across the river to the mountains beyond, and saw a fantastic display of colours. I don't have a fancy camera that uses filters or anything like that, and even though the colours are amazing, they don't do the real thing justice. We are so fortunate to have found such a magnificent house, in a beautiful part of the world. It's the little things like this that make the days I long to hop on a plane so much easier to get though!

Just Some Photos...
This is a sample of the dalia's I have growing in the garden, thanks to my mom, who bought the unknown roots at a garage sale, and to Frank & Vi, whose garden the roots came from! They are so beautiful!

This is the one perfect tomato from the plants I have left. I don't know what is wrong with the plants...I am not a vegetable grower!

The rest of my tomatoes have no bottom. The fruit are off the ground, but they all have no bums. Only just the black or brown flat bottoms. How upsetting! Any suggestions?Chow did not want to move when Daryl was cutting the grass, so he just sat there, watching him, not moving...
Then he passed out on his side on the long, soft grass! Eventually, Fletcher wanted a cookie and I coaxed him off his green bed to let Daryl finish his task! Poor Chow...

Not as Young...

This weekend proved that we are not as young as we use to be, or as young as we think we are! We went camping at Green Lake with a bunch of the neighbours and just had a blast, spending most of the days on the lake, on the boat partaking in a variety of activities from skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, knee-boarding and just plain ol'sillyness. It was such a great time, with all the kids having a blast (and the adult-kids too). However, this morning Daryl could hardly get out of bed following his attempts at a flip on the wake-board. If I could attach a video, you would see just how close he came to landing it... The evenings were filled with creating new mixed beverages and chatting around the camp-fire. We couldn't have asked for better weather, or better company. This is what summer is all about!

75th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!!
On Sunday we celebrated my dad's 75th Birthday with a great party in White Rock. About 40 close friends and family attended the afternoon/evening festivities, with Daryl cooking up a feast of a roast beef and salmon on the BBQ. The sangria was a hit! Thanks to all who brought salads and appetizers, my mom only seemed to cook for 90 people, rather than the usual 200! Papa was most certainly surprised by it all, not suspecting a thing, wondering why we had purchased a 5kg roast for 6 people! Will he ever learn? A delicious cake topped off the meal made by Hanz, the same baker who made Daryl and my wedding cake a year ago. Below are some photos from the day...Thanks to Helene for the amazing balloons that followed us everywhere! You presence was certainly all around!

How I've been feeling lately...
I'm just going to babble cause that's the kind of mood that I'm in. Today is my Papa's 75th Birthday! This year is full of amazing mile-stones...starting with Daryl and my 1 year anniversary, my dad's 75th, my mom's 65th coming up, my 30th coming up... The family was trying to plan something extraordinary, but $$ and wars prevented us from doing a lot. Plans are postponed, not cancelled! We gave Stella back to Marci on Monday, and we were sad to see her go. Even Fletcher was looking for her on Monday night, but by Tuesday he was happy to have his bed back to himself! We liked having a kitty, and were considering very seriously the merits of getting one, but we've decided that at this point, we don't really need another pet. Fletcher was very happy to hear that! We spent the long weekend mostly at home, and on the water in the boat. My first attempt at wakeboarding cleaned out my colon, but the second shot I was up and jumping the wake! It was a great feeling, and for once I wasn't cold on the river! However, I can feel the effects of my age, as my muscles have taken their time to heal. I'm walking around the site like a cripple! We were worried about the motor on the boat, that it wouldn't be able to pull us out of the water...but it did just fine! Daryl was really happy about finally having a boat that we can go wakeboarding with...our very own boat! And we don't owe anything (except a life-time of thank-you's to my parents)!
We are heading to Vancouver this weekend to spend time with my mom & dad, and I hope Daryl doesn't mind the drive to hang with the "in-law's". I hope to see some friends while we are down at the coast, there just never seems to be enough time. We spend our childhood waiting and eager to grow up, wanting to be older, wanting days and weeks to fly by. At what point does that concept flip in our minds? When does it become so crucial to hang on to fleeting moments, to remember every sight, every smell, every experience. When do we discover our own mortality? Life flies by too fast...where has the time gone? Sounds so cliché...but it's true.

The new addition to our family couldn't have come at a better time. Nothing makes me laugh more than the crazy antics of a drunk kitten! Ok, so she really isn't drunk, but she runs around like she's having fits and can't control her 4 legs at the same time. I've never had a cat (or kitten) and never really cared much for them as I am alergic, however, Stella is adorable. And the best part, Fletcher hasn't eaten her! They actually get along quite well. For those who don't know, Fletcher is the happiest dog in the world and never stops wagging his tail, unless he is peeing. Well, Stella thinks that this fuzzy, hypnotic sweeper is the greatest thing ever! She pounces and attacks and stalks...much to the dismay of the chow. He puts up with so much! I stayed home yesterday as I wasn't up for much and was very entertained by the two critters figuring out their place in the house.
We spent the weekend on the Shuswap at the cabin of Cheryl & Andy, and it was so beautiful. The Schmuelers were there...ok, so there is no hiding the fact that they are, in fact, the Schuelers...with the kids, and it was nice to see everyone. Fletcher spent all his time in the water, and I just sat on the dock and got some much needed vitamin D. I think I should try and convince my parents to buy a place out there to escape to. The only thing, we need a bigger boat, or a rule that we not try to out-run storms. The boat ride back to the marina was hell. Alica, Blake and Sherri were troopers as well.
